HMRC updates guidance on VAT for goods exported from the UK

HMRC has published guidance covering the VAT treatment of goods that are supplied for export or otherwise removed from the United Kingdom. The guidance is aimed at setting out how VAT rules apply in these circumstances.

If your business sells or ships physical goods outside the UK, it is worth checking this material to make sure you are handling VAT correctly on those transactions.

For most small businesses and sole traders based in Sandwich and East Kent who trade only domestically, this update is unlikely to require any immediate action. If you do export goods, your accountant or tax adviser can help you apply the rules to your specific situation.
