HMRC updates its list of VAT rates for goods and services

HMRC has updated its reference page listing the rates of VAT that apply to different goods and services, including which items are exempt or fall outside the scope of VAT altogether.

This is a reference resource rather than a policy change, so there is no immediate action required. However, it is worth checking if you are ever unsure which rate applies to something you sell or buy — getting the rate wrong can cause problems when filing VAT returns under Making Tax Digital.

Sole traders and small businesses in Sandwich and East Kent can use the page to confirm the correct treatment for their goods or services before their next VAT submission.
