HMRC updates guidance on registering as a tax adviser
HMRC has published guidance aimed at tax advisers, setting out whether and when they need to register for an agent services account in order to deal with HMRC on behalf of their clients.
If you use an accountant, bookkeeper, or other tax adviser to help manage your affairs — including for Making Tax Digital — this is a matter for them rather than something you need to act on yourself. Your adviser should check the new guidance to make sure they are properly registered before interacting with HMRC on your behalf.
If you are unsure whether your adviser has an agent services account, it is worth asking them directly, particularly as MTD deadlines approach.
