HMRC publishes first MTD for Income Tax software developer newsletter
HMRC has published the first edition of its Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax newsletter, directed at software developers who are building tools to support MTD compliance. The newsletter is part of HMRC's ongoing communication with the developer community as MTD for Income Tax rolls out.
For sole traders, landlords, and small businesses, there is no direct action required from this particular publication. It is a technical update for the people building the software you will use, rather than guidance aimed at taxpayers themselves.
That said, it is a useful reminder that work is continuing behind the scenes to make MTD-compatible software available. If you have not yet looked into which software you will need, now is a good time to start that conversation — whether with your accountant or an MTD support service.
