HMRC guidance updated on tax when you have more than one job

HMRC has updated its guidance page explaining how Income Tax and tax codes work when someone has more than one job or source of income — including how the Personal Allowance is allocated across those different income streams.

This is worth a look if you are a sole trader or landlord who also has employment income, or if you hold multiple jobs at the same time. Getting your tax codes right across all your income sources helps avoid both underpaying and overpaying tax.

There is no new rule or deadline announced here — this appears to be a clarification and refresh of existing guidance rather than a policy change. No immediate action is required, but checking your tax codes periodically is always sensible housekeeping, especially as you prepare for Making Tax Digital.
